Who are we?
Incentive is one of the leading economic consultancy firms in the Nordic region.
The company was founded in 2008 and has since grown rapidly,
now employing 30 capable, committed people.
On three occasions, the Danish newspaper Børsen has named
Incentive a ‘Gazelle Company’ in recognition of our fast growth.
Our consultants are masters of advanced economic and statistical tools,
supplemented with specialist knowledge within a range of services.
We eliminate the guesswork from decision-making
A great deal of economics can be summarised in four words: ‘People respond to incentives’. Economists use people’s motivations in order to understand, explain and predict how people are likely to act or react.
We eliminate the guesswork from decision-making via professional and impartial economic analyses, enabling the public to get more out of scant resources and businesses to improve their competitive edge.
We love economics
From the moment you enter our office, you’ll be able to tell that we think economics is fun. Incentive employees are constantly holding lively discussions on topics ranging from possible explanations for economic mysteries to the implications of political proposals and social tendencies. We often reference books, podcasts and articles which inspire us to become better economists and facilitators.

Hans Rosling
”You cannot use the media if you want to understand the world.”
Rosling was a gifted teacher of statistics pertaining to global development, health, economics and the environment. In our opinion, he has contributed to changing people’s views on how things are actually interconnected in the world. Watch his iconic presentation about health and GDP here:

Steven Levitt
”Morality, it could be argued, represents the way that people would like the world to work, whereas economics represents how it actually does work.”
Levitt is the author of the Freakonomics books, which use economic theories and methods in a range of areas that economists do not traditionally get involved in. His co-author, Stephen Dubner, produces an excellent podcast Freakonomics Radio, in which Levitt often appears as a guest.

Daniel Kahneman
“The idea that the future is unpredictable is undermined every day by the ease with which the past is explained.”
Kahneman is the father of behavioural economics and received the Nobel Prize in 2002 for unifying concepts from the fields of psychology and economics. His book’ Thinking fast and slow’ is a must-read. You can see Kahneman talking about cognitive traps and happiness in his TED talk, where he also includes many examples from his excellent book.

Joseph A. Schumpeter
”At the heart of capitalism is creative destruction”
Schumpeter invented the term creative destruction, which is used to describe the phenomenon that although new products and services can destroy existing markets (destruction), this is often to the benefit (creative) of society as a whole. The sarcasm below demonstrates Schumpter’s point from a more humorous angle.

Milton Friedman
“Most economic fallacies derive from the tendency to assume that there is a fixed pie, that one party can gain only at the expense of another.”
Many Americans got to know Friedman through his TV series ‘Free to choose’. Our favourite clip from the series is Friedman’s story about the pencil (based on the story ‘I, Pencil’):

Daniel Gilbert
”This kind of thinking drives economists crazy, and it should.”
Gilbert has opened our eyes with regard to how we make better choices and prosper. His slides are not always the best but as you can see here, he is nonetheless a fantastic teacher.
